Trivia Time Triumphs Again: Fun and Fundraising

On November 14, 2024, Seeds of Literacy’s second in-person Trivia Time fundraiser brought the house down at Market Garden Brewery, smashing attendance and fundraising goals.

“We sold out! It was standing room only,” said Kim Fetty, Seeds’ new Director of Development. “It was my first Seeds event, and it exceeded every expectation. The energy was incredible, and guests had a fantastic time!”

The trivia competition featured rounds covering Cleveland trivia, adult education statistics, and facts about Seeds of Literacy. Observant players who paid close attention to video clips—featuring interviews with a tutor and student—gained a competitive edge. (One team even took notes!) Volunteer Coordinator Christina Ciofani, serving as the Trivia Game Master, kept the energy high, asked the questions, and reminded the crowd of the critical need for volunteer tutors to support Seeds’ mission.

Team names were as creative as their players were competitive. Real-time leaderboard updates fueled the excitement, with Christina quipping, “Uh oh, here comes Trouble!” when the aptly named team Trouble climbed the ranks.

• Round 1: Team Literary Beasts claimed the $200 prize.
• Round 2: Team Dinos Love Literacy, captained by a former Seeds employee now with the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, snagged $300.
• Round 3: The Tudors edged out the competition, taking home the largest prize of $500.

In a heartwarming gesture, all winning teams generously donated their prizes back to Seeds.

Additional highlights included raffles for curated gift baskets and a 50/50 drawing.

“This year’s Trivia Time wasn’t just an incredibly good time,” Kim said. “It was a celebration of creativity, community, and a commitment to adult education.

The event, sponsored in part by FirstEnergy and Carnegie Management & Development Corporation, raised nearly $64,000 to support Seeds of Literacy’s life-changing programs.
