VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR (full-time)

SALARY

$45,000 – $48,000 plus benefits package listed above

LOCATION

  • Rotates between Seeds East & Seeds West
  • This position is not remote.

HOURS

Monday – Fridays, some weekends and evenings with flex time available

POSITION SUMMARY

The Volunteer Coordinator position is crucial to the success of Seeds of Literacy and is primarily responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of Seeds of Literacy’s volunteer workforce: including recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers.

The Volunteer Coordinator is committed to building long-lasting relationships with devoted volunteers who share the same vision and mission as Seeds.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree; BS or BA in Business, Marketing, Sales, or comparable field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in volunteer management, or comparable nonprofit field is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite, experience with development databases a plus.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the Greater Cleveland community for meetings and events as assigned.
  • Must have experience and be comfortable with public speaking, both in front of training groups and media as requested.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate attendance and volunteer supervision at Seeds of Literacy’s events and programs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
  • Willingness to adjust work to accommodate expected and unanticipated changes, and changing priorities.
  • A pleasant, outgoing personality.
  • Strong customer service, and professional interpersonal communication skills.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Oversee and manage the volunteer program and its volunteers (tutors, court community workers, modified duty offsite workers, interns and others)
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for all individuals interested in volunteer opportunities.
  • Nurture relationships to retain existing volunteers
  • Develop and execute recruitment plans, building upon existing techniques and resources.
  • Create and oversee volunteer policies and procedures and review annually
  • Updating and maintaining records and databases and provide timely statistical data and activity reports
  • Schedule trainings and professional development opportunities
  • Coordinate recognition and appreciation events and activities , including Volunteer Appreciation & Graduation ceremony.
  • Assist with monthly newsletters by providing content to communicate with volunteers

FRONT DESK OFFICER (full-time)

SCHEDULE

  • Full-time / 8-hour shifts
  • Monday – Friday
  • 8:30am – 5pm

SALARY

  • $35,000 – $38,000 plus benefits package listed above

POSITION SUMMARY

The Front Desk Officer (FDO) welcomes and graciously greets and directs all stakeholders. This includes notifying appropriate staff members of arrivals. The FDO provides program information to prospective tutors and students. The Front Desk Officer maintains phones and routes to appropriate staff members.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school Diploma/GED required, Associates Degree preferred
  • Excellent working knowledge of Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Calendar, etc) and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
  • Extreme attention to detail for flawless data-entry
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to calm anxious callers by instilling confidence
  • Ability to manage time and multi-task effectively
  • Ability to maintain confidential of sensitive information

Some Job Functions:

Provide technical support and guidance to callers

(Onto Zoom for Virtual Classroom)

  • calmly walk the caller through the process
  • assist with troubleshooting
  • transfer calls to the Zoom room when video is unavailable

Provide administrative support

  • conduct timely data entry into various databases (LACES, Excel, Google Sheets)
  • ensure accuracy of data
  • maintain inventory of office and program supplies
  • assist with directing on-site volunteers.
  • may be involved in implementation of special events or department-specific projects and seasonal program changes
  • other duties as assigned based on need

STUDENT ORIENTATION COORDINATOR (full-time)

SALARY

  • $40,000 – $45,000 plus benefits package listed above

  • Rotates between Seeds East & Seeds West

POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Student Orientation Coordinator provides all incoming adult students with an introduction to Seeds of Literacy and guides them through the intake process. It is the responsibility of the Student Orientation Coordinator to ensure new students are prepared when they enter the classroom. Our orientations take place on Zoom on Mondays, Seeds West on Tuesdays, and Seeds East on Wednesdays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Facilitate orientation for all incoming students weekly.
  • Contact prospective students and assist them with registration.
  • Communicate with students following orientation through phone and email until they begin class.
  • Effectively engage students through the orientation process and beyond.
  • Enter and review data related to retention and attrition of students.
  • Maintain and demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of student curriculum, HSE exams, and other learning materials.
  • Collaborate with Program staff to ensure information presented is current.
  • Familiarize yourself with students’ background, knowledge, experience and skills. Works with students to understand their goals and interests.
  • Communicates organizational policies and procedures regarding student learning.
  • Appropriately utilize and administer standardized tests. Review and explain test results with students.
  • Connect students to outside community-based organizations to help students facing barriers outside of Seeds’ reach through resources such as UniteUs and United Way.
  • May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events or department-specific projects or seasonal program changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Minimum Associates degree in Education or related field.
  • Experience with Google Suites and Microsoft Office necessary.
  • Proficient experience with Zoom.
  • Ability to professionally present program materials to prospective students, and to effectively communicate and coordinate programming.
  • Compassion and understanding for others.
  • Strong customer service skills and non-profit experience
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and encourage others.
  • Ability to work with, communicate with, and teach a diverse population of adult students.
