Family Fun at Seeds East Open House

Seeds of Literacy hosted Summer Jam: A Seeds East Open House on Saturday, with face-painting, ice cream, music, expert bubble-blowing, poetry, and more. Great fun for kids, while adults got to tour our GED® classroom and learn about free tutoring available in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood of Cleveland’s east side.

Local Cleveland poet Carmen Lane did a group poetry project with attendees, and together they wrote this inspiring poem:

“A Seed Possesses the Past, Present & Future”
Life is triumphs and tribulations
Only the wise ones go through the tough times
Believe in yourself and keep hope high
You can make it, if you believe in yourself and
Remove every form of fear —
Dig deep your toes into the dirt and stretch your face to the sun —
A quiet reflection and moment of stillness,
A Christ-like kind of peace, where His love covers all our pain.

Seeds also had educational computer games for kids and free books — because literacy is important for all ages!
